Fan Art Friday, Session November 22, 2013

Every Friday is Fan Art Friday over at the Facebook fanpage, this means that everyone can send in their art and it gets published in the page.  It as a little something that I want to share with everyone because people love their characters and they love even more giving them a touch of themselves.

The blog may not be as "social" as Facebook, but it does have its own resonance.  I think the artists might eventually run into this post and get blown away by seeing their art elsewhere.

It's a labour of love and I just can't help it but to love the spirit behind it.

Justice League Argentina presents

If you know your geography well, you will know that there's this big country in South America, rich in traditions and history, with a legacy that runs from music and soccer, covering many angles.  Of course, we're talking about Argentina and, as you must definitely know, they do have their own Justice League.  I guess at some point both the Blue Beetle and Booster Gold must have run into it at one moment or another.  Something must have gone wrong that it wasn't published in their magazine diaries--

Anyway, we give you the Justice League Argentina!

Larfleeze's Secret Origin

They said the Blackest Night was bad news for everyone, which was basically true for most sentient beings-- all but Larfleeze, whose conceited soul just wanted more and more of everything, revealing an emptiness that could never be fulfilled, could it? Why wasn't this big crosso-- er, event bad for him, too, when the entire creation was shaking at its feet?

Let's go back to 1978. Disco was all the rage and this small group of funky extraterrestrials had turned Earth into their new home. With their own hit TV show titled "The Muppets", they rocked the planet with their unique relationships as they made public their very tough life, which oddly enough, seemed to be pretty funny to regular human beings. One particularly tortured soul, one of the stars of the show, actually, was devastated in his loneliness. Gonzo, a furry blue creature, just couldn't adapt as well as others to this new home. He sought love and couldn't find none, all he ever got was thousands-- millions of laughs thrown at his face, not the real affection he needed. So far, his tormented life was part of their everyday show, but when the curtains set, he did manage to keep some part of his life a secret. That's how he found frantic love in the arms of someone who's still unknown to us. The secret was sealed, but this unholy union -it was said it was an inter-species relationship-, was careless enough to spring a strange creature, alien to both races, and definitely an outsider to this world without a place in their show.

Gonzo knew his son was meant to suffer a fate far worse than his own. Fighting his decision, he held his son into his arms wanting to make that instant last forever, but he knew fairly well it was not meant to be. He had made a tough choice, but it was for his son's well being. A big sacrifice, an unforgivable one if you ask him, but it had to be done. With tears pouring out of his gigantic eyes and running down his beak, he said his supposedly last good-bye.

"Larfleeze, my son, you deserve everything in the universe." Those were the last words Gonzo's would say to his little monster, or so he thought, as muppet sent him away into an unsuspecting world, hoping for this young and ugly creature to become some sort of Superman in his new home planet. Little did Gonzo know that his words would echo for long, too long in Larfleeze's mind. "You deserve everything in the universe." "Everything." No wonder these words took a turn in Larfleeze's mouth: "Mine?"

Now, back to the Blackest Night, the pieces had been set in place for this unique reunion. Father and son would be at the heart of a confrontation of epic proportions. Father against son would decide the fate of all of humanity and their own humanity would the key to decide it all.

Rainbow Brite on Rampage

Breaking news! Our sources informed us of an incredible development that is taking the entire world by surprise. Fan favorite Rainbow Brite was caught by a surveillance camera as she broke into a jewelry and stole a collection of 8 colored rings worth a fortune. Experts remain mum about the exact value of the rings, but we couldn't help but see them sweat in deep anguish. Some younglings (and a 35-year old man) who found out about the robbery were very excited about the story. When interviewed, one of them said "cool".

We never expected Rainbow Brite to have such a backbone. In the middle of the felony the ever young girl stared at the surveillance camera and said "Mine!" Yes, it was creepy; even worse than the four-letter-word.

A police officer informed us that the next step in this investigation obviously involves the Justice League, meaning things will grow cosmic. We'll keep you postsed.

Oh, miss Rainbow Brite, you've been a bad bad girl. You won't get a thing this Christmas.

Green Flash: The Fastest ____ Alive

Barry Allen, a police scientist (yeah, the forensic guy if you watch too much C.S.I.), was working overnight with one of his tricky cases, you know, corpses, finger prints, hamburgers; when lightning started to rumble through the sky and rain hit strongly Central City. Barry, as usual, wouldn’t let the weather disturb his investigation and he paid little to no attention to the ruckus going outside. Bad choice, good choice, you name it.

An MSN window opened in his computer; it was Wally, his girlfriend's annoying nephew.

"Barry! Barry! Do you see the lightning storm?"

"I'm busy. Is there anything else I can do for you?"

"It's global warming!"

"No, Wally, it's a storm."

"It's not!"

"It is!"

And before Wally could say anything else, Barry blocked the kid's ID. "I should have done this ages ago," he thought and expected Iris, his girlfriend, to call anytime asking him why he was so mean to her nephew. Barry continued with his investigation and absentmindedly walked near to a shelf filled with chemicals. That's when fate hit him hard in the form of a lightning, as an electric bolt ran through the window, crashed against the chemicals and dropped them all over him. Bathed in all kind of weird substances, Barry fell on top of his desk, splattering the hamburger and landing on the floor. Strangely enough, a piece of lettuce got stuck on his face. He tried to get rid of it when-- "Ouch! Ouch!" He had barely grabbed the lettuce when he noticed there were glasses all over the place and he had cut his hand. For a moment there, the lettuce and his blood became one--

A little dizzy because of the green fumes, he laid back again. Making an effort to regain his eyesight, he saw a green cloud that spoke to him. Yeah, it did talk. "You must protect the green," it said. Barry blinked several times and he saw the cloud taking the form of Al Gore's head. "Be a green leader, save the world," Barry couldn't believe it. The chemical cloud was so alive. He tried to touch it, but his hand passed right through it. And so, with a wink, the Al Gore vision was gone.

You can imagine what happened next. Speed powers. The Green SpeedForce. Wally getting his nose into everything. The legacy thing. Life, death, life again. Thing is, from that day on, whenever Barry Allen presses the secret mechanism hidden in his ring, the green lightning costume pops out and he becomes the Green Flash, a super-hero sworn to protect the environment for the generations to come. Watch out Green Lantern and Green Arrow! This one is the real green thing! Meet Green Flash: The Fastest Environmentalist Alive!

America's Next SuperModel is on Fiyah!

A big shake-up struck the core of America's Next SuperModel even before the show had a chance to air its premiere. Former hosts, Northstar and the model-turned-alcoholic Mary Jane Watson, got kicked out of the show as Tyra Banks and the Green Lantern Esplanade G'neesmacher, also known as G'Nort, where hired apparently out of the blue to fill the spots.

"We needed hosts who had a stronger appeal to our audience," said producer George Lucas, "and with a Green Lantern in the show, it just can't fail. Oh, yes, and there's also Tyra."

Lucas' new project has been highly critiziced by both the media and fans. Will it be a success? That's up to you, the viewer. The 12 contestants have already been chosen and only one will be America's Next SuperModel!

The Hulk Sneezed the City off Coast City!

The Hulk has allergies just like many people we know, but with gamma ray bombarded allergies you have to be careful, or so were taught the late people of Coast City. That is if deceased can learn a thing. Again.

This city is infamous for being under the protection of one of Earth's Green Lanterns, with such bad luck that it has been targeted by every monster in the block and blown off the face of Earth one time too many.

Yesterday morning, the Hulk was jumping around apparently attracted by all the green in the scenery when something in the air made him sneeze. Two sneezes later, the city was gone.

Oh, we're going to have a real pi$$ed off Hal Jordan when he comes back from his Secret Origin storyline.

Blame the Green Lantern

"Who ate my yogurt?," yelled Power Girl one morning in the War Room of the Hall of Justice, just as the meeting was about to begin. "The can was open, outside of the fridge and it even had a roach inside!" To say that PG was extra pissed would be the understatement of the year.

"CoughcoughGreenLanterncough!," said a coughing Vixen.

Power Girl's baby blues turned into red hot furnaces as she stared at the four suspects in the room. Who was the yogurt stealer? You decide!
