Being a Baddie

The image belongs to Sy-Fi's "Being Human" show.

Bitten by a Kryptonian Vampire, Aidan suffers a transformation like none other.

When the full moon is shining in the sky and there's no Blur in sight, he grows rocky scales and feeds on people's blood.  He's a tortured soul who only wants to live a normal life, have an apartment and maybe share it with a werewolf or a ghost, or both.  You know, the regular life.

But we all know it won't be easy, not when certain reporter who hides behind big glasses happens to live just across the street.  Their clash will be of epic proportions.

Aquaman's Last Story

Image based on Marvel Comics' cover for Heroes For Hire, April 2011.

It was a cloudy and stormy night, but Aquaman was happy like a fish. That is, if fishes can be happy at all since it has been said they're quite stupid.  Swimming through the Seven Seas, the man who could talk to scaly beings was enjoying himself after spending the afternoon having tea at the Hall of Justice, when WHAM! (the sound effect, not the 80's band) he got stuck between a hard place and some sharp teeth.

It was a very short story, but they say these days, readers want resolution pretty fast.

As an afterthought, I will leave you with this idea:  Do you want Aquaman sushi?

Confessions of a Queen of Hearts

"I told her I was done with her asking me for rabbits for her FarmVille farm, I told her!", insisted the Queen of Hearts.  "And what's with her posting 'I'm bored', 'I'm hungry', 'I'm having lunch'--?  Who cares?  I really don't.  And it also grows annoying everytime she says she's partying wild and she's high on something.  'I'm visiting Neverland this time!'  'The weather at Oz is good'  Can you believe her?  She's the role model for kids these days?"  The Queen laid back in her throne and sighed.  "I unfriended her already.  Actually, I blocked her.  And can you believe she started a fanpage named 'Cross your HEART and hope to DIE'?  Obviously that was aimed at me.  I'm really fed up with that child's passive agressiveness.  I really hope she chokes on the next mushroom she eats."

The supervillain got a name and we got a winner!

On November 8th we posted an image at our Facebook fanpage we posted and image and we asked everyone to suggest names for that super-villain.  Then, we ran a poll here and now we finally have the results.

Meet the winner:  Kriscya Garbanzo Morelli, who suggested "Psycho-Delia" and became the absolute winner of this contest.  The prize:  glory and perpetual credit recognition as Psycho-Delia joins the cast of the "Oh my Gods!" strip.  We'll keep you posted as we redesign and introduce the character.

Kriscya was very excited to be the winner.

Just so we all know what we're talking about, this is the image we used for this creativity contest.

Starsearchers-- IN SPACE!

Look up into the sky, harder, harder. I think you’d like to get a telescope first--

Anyway, the Starsearchers is a group of space adventurers inspired by the original Star Trek, the Legion of Super-Heroes and, of course, Josie & and the Pussycats in Outer Space. It’s a magic formula, just don’t try it at home. It’s explosive and glamorous.

Starsearchers is a dramatic and delicious sci-fi / super-heroics adventure. Michael Lash got the inspiration when he was a kid through his comic books and TV shows and, years later, he joined artist Dean Lee to finally give form to this fun concept.

I won’t give away the story, but I’ll let you know that it gets started with lots of action, a battle in space and a very dramatic turning point for one of the new members of the Starsearchers.  You’ve been warned.  You might need some popcorn to read it.

There are plenty of different characters for you to like and root for them, they’re like 20 members! From the gelatinous K’zle, who has enhanced strength and can regrow his arms; to Starlette, who’s considered a goddess in some planets; Overthink, the twisted leader of the group; Bluu, who can manipulate gravity and has a fashion sense; and even Vamp, a bloodeater who just happens to drink blood, like some famous characters in other media minus the sobbing.  This is just a sample of characters, just like the Legion of Super-Heroes, they're quite a bunch.

This is a work of love and it’s entirely free in the Starsearchers fanpage in Facebook, so take a look and go directly to the photo section. Issues 1 to 5, plus a delightful Halloween Special are waiting for you, and remember to say “hello”, Michael and Dean are quite the welcoming hosts.  You might like hanging out a bit.

We hope you enjoy it.

1964: Lois Lane crosses over Grey’s Anatomy

Back back back in the day, waaaaaay back when Lois Lane was a multi-tasker and also worked as a nurse, she ran into a younger version of Dr. Sloan.  There must have been a spark between the famous reporter and Doctor McSteamy, but as we all know, dirty stuff only happened behind panels.  And yes, we all know Lois had her share of boyfriends.

We tried to get more information on this casual encounter, but both of them hung up their phones when we asked the question.  We sincerely think there was more to this than what they allowed us to know.

Poll: "If I was a supervillain, how would you call me?"

Over at Comics All Too Real's fanpage we asked this question and we got a lot of replies.  That's why, we, at CATR central, decided to run a poll as part of the "1.000 likes" celebration.  The winner will get the credits and hopefully, I'll get one of my artist friends to re-create this character under a villainous light, displaying proudly her new name.  Nothing fancy, but the winner would be able to link this post in his/her resumé (or not).

Get your own Poll!

Jade + Obsidian = Baron Ashura?

The formula is simple and you need to learn it well.  Put an ounce of Jade, add some Obsidian shadows, put it into the microwave under a green light and you get a meanie two-faced androgyne villain, not that there's anything wrong with being androgine, but when it relates with Baron Ashura everything's bad bad bad.  Two faces are always meaner than one and Jadesidian did know it fairly well.

Thing is there's a rumor that Baron Ashura is fighting the Justice League and the Justice Society from a secret spot in Japan.  Yes, we thought he/she was dead, but we all know how it is with the revolving door that is death.  Could he/she be planning some more gender attacks against the Leagues?  Who would be put into the blender next time?  Guy Gardner and Power Girl?  Now, that would be something worth watching.

Stay tuned as things get androgynous--

The Mystery of the Super-Discs Revealed!

"You're too lame."  "The Power-Puff Girls are cooler than you!"  "So, you talk to the fish?  Bwah-hahaha!"  Aquaman has heard it all, mostly negative, respect has never been on his side and even the Blue Beetle played a few pranks against him.  That's when he decided to take on a new crusade to regain some respect.

"Talking to the fish has never been the issue.  Can you talk to the undersea creatures?  And you call me lame?"  Aquaman told us during a quick interview with an obvious defensive tone.  "I have a cool power but I know someone has been stealing my thunder for ages and it's about time I find out for sure."

It was no mystery for us since we already know where Aquaman "discs" ended up.  We asked Ant-Man about them and this is what he told us.  "Discs?  You mean my telepathic powers to command all kind of insect creatures!"  We nodded in agreement.  "And you say I stole it from Namor?"  We had to clarify a little about which King of the Seas we were talking about.  "These discs belong to me, I never saw a ® in them when I grabbed them.  And so, I claimed and so, they're  mine.  And so, this conversation is over."

The mystery was solved but the copyright issue was still in the air.

"I'm suing his six legs and antennae for this!", yelled Aquaman when he found out.  We wish him luck.

Before we left, we asked the Aquadude about Aqualad and he ran away in tears.

The Ant-Man beautiful black & white portrait was done by Chris Samnee.
